As the hostess of the baby shower, you’ll most likely receive calls asking for gift ideas, once you’ve mailed out the invitations. If the parents-to-be have established a gift registry at a baby or department store (which makes the shopping experience less stressful and ensures the expectant mom won’t receive two of the same thing), pass that information along. But, most likely, if they have registered, you already included the name of the store in the invitation to the shower.
If the guest of honor has not registered, it’s always a good idea to ask her which items she needs most and which (if any) she has already received. That way there won’t be duplicate gifts and the mom-to-be won’t have to return things later on.
